I love a good uncle... one with a weathered look that says "I love kids, but I've seen some stuff." You know, a fun uncle. People call it a "funcle." Oh I went through a huge Funcle Phase!

Description: If you've read "The Art of Gathering," you've read about "The bob"... some one who is not a threat to the gathering, nor do they fulfill the purpose. You'd be just as okay is they didn't show up. We've all been bobs, the awkward invitee to a party in which we weren't the one personally invited... the awkward boyfriend/girlfriend, the aunt, the sister of a friend... we've all been there. Description: Based on my comedy bit about growing up in the south and being taught to be proud of southern heritage, only to find out my mother was born in New Jersey. When we told her we learned about "damn yankees" in school, she jumped up and said "I'ma damn Yankee!" The only time I ever heard my mother swear. Where ever you're from, be proud!

Description: I grew up in Pawleys Island, South Carolina where sea turtles come and lay their eggs on the beaches. The babies have to learn to make their own way to the ocean. It's tempting to want to help them, but the journey from the sand to the ocean strengthens and prepares them for ocean wildlife. All the beach houses on the island know... lights out! Sea turtles dig the dark!

Description: Let's be honest, in the year 2020, we're not really sure how to greet new people or say hi to old friends... we all end up doing some weird shimmy as we try to figure out how to say hello. Let friends know if they can go in for the hug or not... Avoid the awkwardness by giving them a heads up without even having to ask! This is shirt is for my husband... he's a hugger. I, on the other hand, will be wearing the other shirt!

As a former vegan (with an appreciation for the intentions of veganism), there's nothing quite like the guilt free feeling of enjoying a good burger. I'm just as proud to be a recovering vegan as vegans are to be vegan. Also makes a great humorous gift for someone who's always been an avid meat eater.
